Meet Kim and Kyra
Kim has been in the funeral industry since 2017. She wanted to become a funeral arranger to provide families with emotional support and to assist them with organising a farewell for their loved ones. Kim sees her role as an absolute privilege to assist families during one of the hardest times of their lives.
Kyra joined the funeral industry in 2022, having no experience in the industry she was inspired by the care and dedication of the staff who helped her during her state of grief. She was encouraged to want to do the same, and help others. Kyra said it has been the most amazing and rewarding career change she has ever made and is very grateful to be helping so many families.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Kim – I enjoy spending time with my husband and our two beautiful fur babies, Hogan & Daisy, who bring us so much joy. My other passions are attending church, spending time with family and friends and going to the gym.
Kyra – I’m very family oriented, so our weekends are filled with kids sport, the beach and the occasional theme park. When I have a spare evening, I will often get together with my sister to paint and watch Bob Ross videos.
What’s the most remarkable funeral you’ve ever arranged?
Kim - A very successful business owner who passed away. After the church service and on the way to the crematorium, at every major intersection and overbridge, the staff were in their company vehicles (large trucks) which was very impactful. It was pretty special and very honouring to this lady.
Kyra – A elderly woman had passed away, outliving all her friends and relatives. Her carer came to me to arrange a sendoff to honour the memory of this wonderful woman and I was so honoured to play a small part. It ended up being an intimate and lovely service; the carer, a celebrant, myself and a colleague all cherishing the memory of an amazing individual.
What charities does Simplicity Funerals support in your area?
Over the past year we have sponsored Pet Therapy and Sing-a—long sessions into our local aged care facilities. Both of these activities were greatly appreciated by the residents and the aged care facilities.
On behalf of my family, who are incredibly grateful to Barry and the team at Simplicity Funerals for their outstanding help and services. The last thing all of us want to think about when we lose a loved one is all the complicated but necessary legal documentation, stakeholder liaising and funeral preparations. Barry is kind, considerate and empathetic. Barry and the team take a massive weight off your shoulders in sorting these things out and connecting you with the right people (or just doing the work themselves).
